This is the first time I have been away from Pottstown in almost two years. I have been looking forward to the writing retreat I am at for several months, as well as the opportunity to visit some friends after the retreat ends. So, it figures, that I would somehow manage to get sick yesterday.

It started in the morning when I had an allergic reaction to some soy milk I used on my cereal. I didn’t see the regular milk in the fridge, so I grabbed some soy milk for my Life cereal. I had just about finished my cereal when my throat began to tighten and then began to burn and itch. It wasn’t too serious, but the uncomfortable feeling remained for a few hours until being replaced by the constant urge to cough.

While I do not think the two are necessarily related, the fact of the matter is that since yesterday afternoon I have been coughing constantly, my coughs are getting deeper and “juicier” sounding (if you know what I mean), and I am tired beyond all belief. I couldn’t write anything of consequence right now, even if I wanted to.

My hope is that this sickness will soon go away, but who knows if it will or not. Say a prayer for me, if you have the time. I’d appreciate it.

Well, I am moving all my self-hosted wordpress.org blogs back to wordpress.com. While I have enjoyed having the freedom to pick whatever theme I want to use, use various plug-ins, run ads, and use scripts in my blogs, the cost to do this is just not worth it. I spend about $20.00 a month to host with Media Temple’s grid service, and while I am happy with them and their support – never having an issue with them that wasn’t quickly resolved – I can no longer justify spending that kind of money.

And if there is one thing I have not liked about hosting my own blogs, it has been a much slower load time than blogs on wordpress.com have. You have to hand it to wordpress.com, their servers are fast.

So, sometime in the next month the following blogs will be closed down and moved to their wordpress.com counterparts. The new wordpress.com blogs are already up and running and you can use them now, if you so desire. For all of you who link with me, I am sorry for the trouble I am causing you to have to change your links, and I will understand if you decide not to.

——-

The following blogs are moving:

One Thing I Know – http://onethingiknow.net to http://willhumes.net (Will’s Wonderful World)

A Prayer of Augustine’s

Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you. In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created. You were with me, but I was not with you. Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you they would have not been at all. You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness. You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness. You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you. I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me, and I burned for your peace. - from Confessions, Book 10, Chapter 27

“Penance rightly considered is not acts performed in order to attract God’s attention or get credit for oneself. It is something natural that follows sorrow. If I were you, I’d forget about penance until I felt called upon to perform it. Don’t anticipate too much. I have the feeling that you irritate your soul with a lot of things that it isn’t time to irritate it with.

What people don’t realize is how much religion costs. They think faith is a big electric blanket, when of course it is the cross. It is much harder to believe than not to believe. If you feel you can’t believe, you must at least do this: keep an open mind. Keep it open toward faith, keep wanting it, keep asking for it, and leave the rest to God.”

Here’s how it works:
Click here to get a random wiki page. The title of the page is your band name.
Click here for a random quote generator. The last four words of the quote are the album title.
Click here for an interesting photo from flickr, which will serve as the cover art.

My results are:

Band Name: Ghost Story
Album: What Can’t Be Done

And the Album/CD would look like this:

Pretty Cool, if you ask me.
