I've never seen it, but on your recommendation I'll definitely have to look into it. Sounds pretty interesting.

Thanks for this beautiful post, Will. I think there may be a lot of pastors searching for a new faith, so to speak, struggling with the silences. It made me sad to think that Buechner no longer hears the birds sing. Perhaps at certain seasons of the spiritual life, silence is a normal part of things. I love listening to silence. Anyway, thanks again for the post.

LOL ... yeah ... interview the governor in front of a guy exsanguinating turkeys while he laughs and chuckles.

Let's wonder what he was laughing about ... was it irony? Or was it the fact that poor Sarah can't for the life of her get a straight sentence out of her mouth? She desperately needs a better publicist. Every time she speaks publicly I feel a little more sorry for her.

Oh, good--I was afraid you were going all PETA on me. Yeah, not the best shot set-up--but then, it's hard to know what they like in Alaska. I admit that I have a part of my brain that still thinks of Alaska as entirely populated by loners, gold miners, and anti-conformists. Even though I know better...

Exactly. Mmmmm turkey.

No, this clip is a little reminiscent for me of the woodchipper scene in "Fargo" and/or the pets or meat scene in "Roger and Me." I mean, what was anyone thinking when they filmed this? Let's interview the Gov while she is standing in front of a guy with bloody pants who is also decapitating turkeys while she speaks.

That's the point, if there is one.
