I am a fan of everything Joss Whedon does, including his mini-musical “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” which was written during the recent writers’ strike. Starring Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, Nathan Fillion as his nemesis Captain Hammer, and Felicia Day as Penny, the woman caught in the middle of these two guys’ affections, Dr. Horrible is a treat for anyone who loves witty dialogue and catchy tunes. And I believe that this sort film is just the thing that Whedon fans have been waiting for ever since he penned the infamous musical episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” entitled “Once More With Feeling.”
As described on the hulu site: Aspiring super-villain Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) wants to join the Evil League of Evil and win the girl of his dreams, but his nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) [keeps getting in his way]. Tunes and general hilarity quickly ensue, including a couple of excellent duets.
It has been noted on the website TV Squad that this show has been extremely popular with over “an astounding 74.2% of that blog’s readers giving it a 5 out of 5, while another 22.5% went with 4 out of 5. The potential for money making is also large, reports TV Squad. With downloads available on iTunes and advertising revenue from hulu and other sources, as well future possible DVD sales, we could be talking about millions of dollars.
Good for Whedon and good for those who worked with him on this excellent mini-musical!
