There are times when I am frankly amazed at how stupid some people can be, and this is especially the case when one mixes fundamentalist and literalistic Christianity with politics. It seems that we now have a new candidate for the position of Antichrist, and his name is Obama.
I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this tidbit of information, but once I did, I was amazed at how much stupidity I could uncover with a short Google search. (Btw, I provide no links to the sites I mention below since I do not want to drive any traffic to them . . . the sole exception to this is the youtube video a the very end).
Here are the "headlines" from one blog that focuses solely upon the "Obama is the Antichrist" motif:
Could Presidential Candidate
Barack Hussein Obama be the "Anti-Christ?"
This site deals with Biblical Prophecy and some of the "Anti-Christ" characteristics of Barack Hussein Obama.
If Barack is not the "Anti-Christ" he is an excellent candidate to hand over control of the U.S. to the Anti-Christ!
This particular blog then goes on to make these "salient" points:
Is Obama the Anti-Christ?
1 - He will come as a man of Peace (Obama promises peace in Iraq, defeat for the US)
2 - He will come mounted on a white Female horse (Obama’s mother is white who had 6 African husbands)
3 - He will come to deceive (Obama says he’s a Christian but in fact he was raised in a Muslim culture.
4 - He will make himself the most powerful man on earth, if elected.
5 - He will try to destroy the Jewish People and Israel (Obama has said he loves the Arabs specially the Palestinians, hates Israel and Jews. admires Hitler, Osama etc)
6 - He will present himself as good and righteous but in fact he’s Satan himself. Violence is in his heart
7 - Obama could help Al Qaida in its evil projects.
8 - Barack Hussein Obama is the "King of the South" predicted in the Bible. (Daniel 11, Kenya is south of Jerusalem)
9 - Obama comes to implant Muslim Sharia Law upon America.
10 - Obama is trying to pull religions together like a one world religion deal!
I particularly item number 2 above. And as if all of the above wasn’t enough, this site has a lovely poster of Obama meant to drive it’s point home. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right?
I also discovered that there is also an email making the rounds that says, among other things:
According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is:
The anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal…. the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything. Is it OBAMA??
Is is OBAMA? Kinda reminds of Dana Carvey’s "Church Lady" skits from SNL . . . Could it be SATAN? If you don’t remember them, check out the video below for a reminder. But before you do, let me add that having read and studied Revelation numerous times myself, I know of no reference whatsoever within it that would make someone believe the Antichrist will be in his 40s and also be a Muslim. Good Lord, where do people come up with this stuff?
On another "Obama is the Antichrist" blog, we find this comment left by one of the readers:
I do not follow the president race, I never have. I am, however, a Christian. I was flipping through the channels on my TV, when I came across one of the debates of Ms. Clinton and Mr Obama. For some strange reason, I started to listen. I had been listening for maybe 5 minutes, when the most horrible feeling came across me. At the time I really couldn’t put a finger on why I was feeling this way. After a few minutes more I understood what the problem was. I believe Mr. Obama is the anti-christ. I know people will think I am a complete nut, for thinking this. I dicided to get on the computer and find out all I could about Mr. Obama. That is when I saw the others who believe like I do. I hate to say anything negitive about a person. I have always been taught there is good in all people, and I have always lived my life in looking for that good. No matter how much I try to find good in Mr. Obama, I can’t shake the feeling that he is something really bad. It scares me more then words can express to know what I believe this man is capiable of. I have prayed about this many hours since I have thought this horrible thought. After many hours of prayers, I believe that if Mr. Obama is the antichrist, there is really nothing anyone can do about this. As a Christian, I believe this is God’s plan for the world, as He states in Revelatons. I do pray for all the lost souls who will follow this man into the pits of hell. I pray that the Lord will open there eyes to see the deception in Mr. Obama. More then anything, if Mr. Obama isn’t the antichrist, then Lord please forgive me for falsly accusing my fellow man of this.
And then there are comments on other blogs, including these gems:
“It just so happens that Obama is the anti-christ. I believe so and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with any logic I have employed or any racist attitudes that I may have. Fact is, this man is the antichrist. It was weird how it was revealed to me …”
“…and here it is a year before elections and people already are set on him for president. Has that ever happen to a president before? NO…
“isn’t it said that the antichrist will die and then come back? well, isn’t his middle name hussein???”
And then there is the blog that combines the "Obama is the Antichrist" crap with blatant racism that would make any KKK member proud. One headline there reads:
THE GREAT SATAN CELEBRATES HIS SON BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA ANTICHRIST FOR AMERICA
And if that isn’t enough for you, it adds:
BE AFRAID AMERICA FOR SATAN’S CHILD IS NOW AMONGST US AS A BLACK/WHITE MAN!
Since the redemption of Adam/Israel by the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the indwelling of the Spirit in the White race has been accomplished. However, what if there were no White people left on earth in which God’s Spirit could dwell? God would have no place to dwell. It is quite conceivable then, for the enemies of God, the jews, to destroy the ability of our race to propagate and the surest way to do that, short of killing us outright, is to mix our racial stock producing what the Bible calls ‘bastards’ or mongrels (Deut. 23:2). The end product is a mixed breed empty of an undefiled body tainted with hybrid genetics, void of a Spirit/temple in which God can dwell. This breed of jews, as well as all other mixed breeds, have violated God’s biological Creation of ‘kind after kind’ and therefore cannot worship the God/Creator of pure undefiled races. They have defiled God’s original intent and sponsor the proliferation of more ungodly defiance.
You know, I had to think long and hard about even posting such a vile paragraph here. I decided to because I think it is important to know that there are people out there who actually believe in this $&#*%1. I realize that this is hard to swallow, but it is a fact that this world is filled with stupid and hate-filled people who think nothing about writing the words you read above. Further, there are even people out there who put their crap to music and video and post it on youtube, a sample of which is seen below.
Having gone through all this garbage, let me ask a simple question:
"How stupid do people have to be to believe this crap?"

Yeah..there are some pretty bizarre examples of people that feel that way. And I truthfully don’t know what to make of the racist crap.
I am not a religious or a political man. Obama scares the living Hell out of me. I don’t know why. Seeing him on the world stage terrifies me for reasons I don’t even try to understand. It just is.

Whether Obama is, or isn’t the anti-christ, I cannot say but..he sure sets off warning bells in many Christian’s! Obama claims to be a Christian who put his trust in Jesus but he continues to deny the words of Christ by telling millions of American’s that ‘there are many other paths to God’ Jesus said that he was the one and only way. Why is it that Obama is almost preaching another Gospel to the world? Presidential Candidate or Apostate Preacher? what is his role in this world before America?
I listen to the almost worshipful and reverential accolades that people give to Obama. Savior, New Testament..etc etc..are just a couple of the terms used to describe him by his followers. It’s scary! How did this man make such a meteoric rise from no where..to leading the race in such a short time frame. After all, he’s barely past the mid-way point through his first term as a senator! Consider his views on abortion. Even NARAl, the pro-abortion watchdog doesn’t hold the same radical views that Obama has such as voting against the Born Alive Baby Protection Act!
Then, while thinking about the slaughter of the unborn, consider one of the first mentions of the anti-christ, in the book of Daniel which says that:Daniel 11:37 “Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all”
What is the ‘desire of a woman’ in OT times? a child! Obama doesn’t care about them, it’s obvious by his record on abortion rulings! Antichirst or not, he just doesn’t ring true!

This was an interesting forum to find. Without blasting everyone with fact after fact about Obama, it is simply put that the man is a habitual liar. Not the normal politician liar but a world-view liar. Every time the man is in the news I am stunned at what kind of lie he has told each day. I sat in the truck a lunch and listened to his speech in Germany at the wall. I am sure it was edited but even then it was still stunning. After all the race card mongering and ambiguous insinuations about acceptance in America, he goes over there and almost immediately brings up his “different appearance”. What a low level to go to. Yeah the Germs that showed up liked him but I can’t imagine what dismay was being shared in the think tanks over there. Not to mention he tried to draw equality with those who stood in that place before. Then there is all the family ties the man has. It is enough to make any clear minded Christian go buy a gun. Scratch that…a bunch of guns. That guy may not be the anti but it isn’t for a lack of effort. A vote that is not for Obama will certainly be a vote against him.

It’s funny, the “other guy” is always the anti-Christ, or not a real “Christian”; whatever that means nowadays. I profess to be guilty of this in my extreme dislike of W. But really, do we elect our president to be the leader of some theocracy? As I understand US history some of early and perhaps great presidents would not agree with the Nicene Creed (think Jefferson).
It seems many of us today get excited about the religiosity of “our guy” and give him a pass on real leadership, or vision, or integrity.
To be honest after W, if an atheist whom had honesty, integrity, compassion, and wisdom ran; that person would get my vote.

It seems to me that the isms are in the air. Racism, sexism, heterosexism continue to be rampant in spite of what we say. However, I think folks pull this brand of hatred and stupidity (not a strong enough word) out of their butts.
Obama, the AntiChrist? I’ve heard and entertained (only lightly on my part,) those thoughts about other presidential leadership. I have lots of questions about interpretations of the book of Revelation. I really need to know what John ate the night before.

I love all these responses.
They remind me–not that I particularly need reminding–of why I despise religion. I deny the biblical assertion that money is the root of all evil; it is clearly not money, but stupidity. Stupidity is the most dangerous force in the world, and the devout are the indisputable tip of the spear.

Shannon,
You wrote “I deny the biblical assertion that money is the root of all evil”. I am by no means well versed in Biblical scriptures nor do I belong to any religious institution. That said, I am terribly sorry to inform you that your version of Biblical assertions is incoherent. You should go read the passage you have attempted to paraphrase and then come back and restate your position on religion. I do agree however that religion is all messed up.
Respectfully,
DCW
P.S. “They” may end up reminding you of why, people who assert self sufficiency and then insinuate that “the devout” (do you mean muslims?) are the tip of the stupidity spear, “they” appear as scholars compared to you.

Not all religiously devout people are stupid, and I hope that the “not stupid” category includes “yours truly.” But there does seem to be an element within certain circles of Christianity that views the world in such black and white terms with no ambiguity at all. These folk have a hard, if not impossible time, accepting the :other.” In my opinion, they need to see just how accepting and open Jesus himself was.
Cosmotone:
Ah . . . yeah, right (please note sarcasm).
