Welcome

Please note that the posts in this blog do not reflect the opinions of the United Methodist Church, nor my local congregation. They are mine alone, and depending upon the day, I might not even claim them as my own either : )

Looking Ahead - 2008

1. Will you be looking for a new job? Yes. I am hoping to move closer to my daughter who, as of August, now lives 2½ hours away.  I regret the effect this move may have on others however.
2. Will you be looking for a new relationship? No.
3. New house? See Number 1.
4. What will you do different in 08? Try to be more organized.
5. New Years resolution? To continue to lose weight . . . I’ve lost about 20 pounds this year and need to lose many more.
6. What will you not be doing in 08? Looking for love, in all the wrong places (to quote the old country song) or right places for that matter.
7. Any trips planned? Several to Ohio and Kentucky (the land of my birth).  Maybe a trip out west . . . I’d love to make my way to the Pacific Northwest.
8. Wedding Plans? See Number 2.  Not likely.
9. Major thing on your calendar? Moving in June?
10. What can’t you wait for? To find out if I will be moving to a new church in either the Eastern Pennsylvania or Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.
11. What would you like to see happen differently? That I preside at far fewer funerals next year than I have this year.
12. What about yourself will you be changing? New eyeglasses in January.  Maybe I will grow my beard back (See no. 23).
13. What happened in 07 that you didn’t think would ever happen? That so many people in my church would die . . . too many, way too many.
14. Will you be nicer to the people you care about? I am already a nice person.
15. Will you dress differently this year than you did in 07? No.
16. Will you start or quit drinking? No.
17. Will you better your relationship with your family? I need to spend some more time with my mom and dad.
18. Will you do charity work? Yes.
19. Will you go to bars? No.
20. Will you be nice to people you don’t know? I am a nice person, so yes.
21. Do you expect 08 to be a good year for you? I hope so, but as a realist (others might say pessimist), I have my doubts.
22. How much did you change from this time last year till now? I am a little lighter.  I have a few more gray hairs.  I no longer have a beard.
23. Do you plan on having a child? For me to do this would mean I need to be successful with No. 2, and, as this is not likely to happen.  In the meantime, I think I’ll keep the one I have.
24. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now? Yes.
25. Major lifestyle changes? Moving. Getting rid of stuff I don’t need before moving.
26. Will you be moving? This is my hope, anyway.
27. What will you make sure doesn’t happen in 08 that happened in 07? That I am not working on my Sunday sermons at 11 pm on Saturday nights (like I am doing right now).  Ha, ha, ha.
28. What are your New Years Eve plans? Work on my sermon for the following Sunday. Ha, ha, ha.
29. Will you have someone to kiss at midnight? Only if my lovely daughter is here and she stays up late and is willing to give her Dad a kiss.
30. One wish/prayer for 08? To be as funny as Jim and Julie were in answering these questions, and to love more.
