Deus absconditus

Deus AbsconditusPrint This Post Print This Post

dry
barren
my heart a desert
my soul
a wilderness filled with wild beasts
fear
sorrow
anger
doubt
where is the God of my salvation
Deus absconditus.

I seek but do not find
I am in Sheol
but You are not there
forsaken
I cry out for your presence
but hear only the echoes of my
anguish in reply
I need your love
I need your Spirit
else I am lost

Find me
O hidden God
look for me
seek me out
and bring me home
bring me your peace
pursue me with your
mercy and grace
and let not
life or death keep us apart

I pray to you
O God that I do not know
hear my prayer
turn not away
stay not away
come to me and save me
else I am lost
I will forever be lost
without you

please

- Will Humes

Oh Will - that was beautiful and dark and painful and I tell you, it was as if I was reading my own heart, thrown into the air. Thank you for sharing that. Great Peace be with you, and with me for that matter.

  2. Will wrote,

Thank you, Alan, for your kindness. You and your own situation have been much in my thoughts and prayers.
