This Week’s Links

LinksHere are some links I found interesting.  Maybe you will as well.

1. Military Disobedience?

Richard  of the blog “American Leftist” quotes from an article in the  Sunday Times and reflects on the consequences of a possible military strike or war on Iran.

SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.

2.Christian Ethics and Biblical Literalism

John of “Locusts and Honey” has an interesting post quoting from a blog entry from Dan Trabue, who

has a relative who was nominated by his church to become a deacon (as a congregational polity defines the term). He drank a few alcoholic drinks a year, though his denomination frowns on drinking entirely, and so encountered resistance.

3. Two more funny posts from Jessica Hagy at the blog “Indexed.”  One is entitled Life Sure Does Come at You Fast and the other Or You’ll Get Hurt.

4.  David, the nakedpastor, has an excellent post on Jung’s experience of Christians in the church.  David writes, “[Jung] realized that they clung desperately to the God of love out of fear of facing the darker side of God. Jung got tired of the religious community:

The phrase meant nothing to me at all, for the habitual church goers struck me as being far less community than the ‘worldly’ folk. The latter may have been less virtuous, but on the other hand they were much nicer people, with natural emotions, more sociable and cheerful, warmer-hearted and more sincere.

5. Help build a ribbon around the world at planetfesto.

6. As an Opera (Browser) fanboy, I encourage you to read a review of the browser at law.com, which states (among other things):

First released in 1997 by the Norwegian company Opera Software, Opera has always sought to be faster, leaner, more stable and more flexible than any of its competitors. With the December release of version 9.1, it adds an improved layer of security and clever new features that further enhance its functionality, all in a free download that is only 4.9 MB in size.
