Regardless of how you feel about the man’s music, I recommend the reading of moby’s blog, especially since he so often echoes my own views : )

I just wanted to say that I was watching the execution of Saddam on the local French channel, it was informative. Let me say firstly, that I’m not a bible thumper, or fan of Saddam Hussein ( I truly believe he should be jailed indefinitely and be subject to harsh physical labour for the rest of his life…including, but not limited to reliving scenes of the dehumanization, torture, and outright baseless killings which he ordered, on a daily basis), or the death penalty, or the American administration. I’m a free man living in a relatively democratic society in North America simply expressing his views and was perturbed by the stupidity of the actions of the death sentence….
Having said that…I really, really, want to say….Does the American administration AND the Iraqi administration really think the world is stupid? I saw the footage on TV of the noose going around his head. I saw the body on the ground with a blanket around it….Bottom line, it is FAKE and anyone that believes otherwise is a complete moron. The footage seen over the past few weeks is of a man thinner than the man who was “hanged”, and when the noose went over the head and around the neck…well…the special effects idiot could have done a better job….don’t make his neck thick, and certainly don’t make his jacket collar stiff and thin out the body harness under the jacket….what a bunch of morons!!!!
I’m sorry that I’m using your site as my means of expressing my views, but the title seemed appropriate to make a comment. As a Christian individual, and a person who fully values other religions, views, and comments, I truly feel for the Iraqi people who are living through this hell of both the Iraqi problem and the American administration. My wishes and blessings go out to all persons who have been touched by this hell including the people fighting the war on all sides, the people touched by the tragedies, and especially the people causing this tragedy. For those causing it, may you find some degree of peace in your lives, for this hell will remain with your soul for the rest of your days.
Thanks for the opportunity and I hope this message is seen by a lot of people….question the video…As my mother as always said…If it seems to good to be true, it probably is….

Very insightful, and I agree for the most part. It’s also scary to think what his death will do for terrorists looking for a rally cry. He was still beloved by many people in the Middle East. He was evil, but part of the world will miss him, and I fear some will avenge him.

For Michael… you may well be right, but I doubt you’re going to get much of a hearing by belittling and berating everybody in the world but yourself (and your mother). And I hardly think Will was implying that Saddam’s execution was as good a thing as the end of of your rant makes it sound.
And for Will, these are nice thoughts. I wonder if Saddam ever thought about the sanctity of life while he was brutally snuffing out hundreds of thousands of them. And I wonder what the Eternal One will have to say to him when he shows up seeking admittance.
