Well I posted nothing last night. By the time I realized this fact, it was already way past time for me to go to sleep. You see, I had to get up extra early in order to take my daughter back to her school in Tamaqua, about 75 minutes away, and she has to be there no later than 7:30 am.
This happens once a week, and I am glad to make the three-hour round trip twice each week in order to spend some time with my girl during the week. Of course, when we get home, she likes to spend her time with the other girls in the house (Jim’s offspring), but the time in the car alone with her is more than worth all the travel and time.
I hope that my daughter never tires of spending a few minutes in conversation with her dad. She is already 14 and, and who knows what the next few years of “teenager-hood” will bring.
In other news, I worked at Churchill’s today, and to be frank, it is getting too busy there. Like Jim before me, I have less and less time to spend working on church stuff there, and find myself with barely a few minutes to even sit down. This has been the case for at least 6 out of my last 7 or 8 days there. I would really like to not have to work there (I need the money to make ends meet, but even with tips I am making only $8.00 to $10.00 an hour at most), but I will have to wait and see how things go in the new year. If I am not mistaken most of the raise I will get next year will go toward an increase in my contribution to my health insurance. If that proves true, then I will probably have to keep on working at Churchills until I move to a new appointment.
I also paid a short visit to a sick parishioner and ordered one of my girl’s Christmas presents. I caught up on my blog reading, posted a few entries and did some work on the worship service for Sunday. I still have a lot more to do, however, before I am ready with a complete bulletin and Sunday message.
Oh, and my car gets its oil changed and 15,000-20,000 mile checkup on Monday. I have had the vehicle for only 10 months, and it already has almost 19,000 miles on it. Since I need the car the last until it reaches at least 100,000 miles, so I am trying to take care of it. We’ll see if my new-found dedication to routine vehicle maintenance pays off.
The time has come, and I should sign off and get a little sleep before another busy day tomorrow - another trip to Tamaqua, work in the office in the morning, and who knows what else will present itself to me when I wake up in the morning.
Until then. . .
