Psalm 94, and/or 95 - PM

Hab. 3:1-10(11-15)16-18

James 3:1-12

Luke 17:1-10

Today’s Featured Passage:  James 3:5-8

So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great exploits.  How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire! And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of nature, and is itself set on fire by hell. For every species of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species, but no one can tame the tongue-a restless evil, full of deadly poison. (NRSV)

For today’s devotion, I refer you back to the very first blog entry I ever made, back in March of 2005.  Sorry for the lack of capitalization; I was going through a e. e. cummings phase back then.

And though I have no idea what this means, James 3:8 was the very first Bible verse I can ever remember actually memorizing.  Maybe it was as a punishment for telling my Mom or Dad a lie when I was eight years old.
